We're still around....

I feel like I've fallen off the face of the earth lately. Ever since Sam's birthday we've been BUSY BUSY BUSY. I promise though we're still around.

After Thanksgiving I went to Phoenix to visit family and friends.
Katrina and I finally picked out a new oven to replace her 1970s oven.
Margy came to visit and boy are we photogenic!

Sam learned how to catch a ball.
We finally found a sock Sam's size!
I put the Christmas tree up and Sam took it down.

The NBA might not be good for Sam. We'll try the NFL.

November

For the 4th year in a row we hosted Thanksgiving. We had some great friends come over, it was a blast!
Even Sam's enjoying Mike's new iPhone. He's got to wait another 16 years till we get him one though.
Looks like we have a problem....we need a BIGGER couch!!!
We let Sam choose his outfit - PJs with shoes, a jacket and a hat.

Sam's new favorite thing: color changing cars.

Cold Lazy Saturday

Sam showing off his sensitive side.
Sam watching the snow...yes snow!!!
Mike and I are trying to be good parents by teaching Sam shapes and letters. We let him tape shapes and letters to the wall. So far so good...well until we got to the letter "H".

Sam's 2nd Birthday

Once Sam woke up, I brought him down stairs and he immediately ran to the table of presents. I quickly ran back upstairs to wake up Mike. When we returned down stairs, it was too late. Sam already opened his first present and tried to chew through the packaging.
For Sam's birthday we took him to the National Building Museum and built towers together.
Next we took him to the National Aquarium.

We took Sam out to eat his favorite food, WAFFLES! We ate at IHOP (ugh) but Sam loved it!
We opened presents.
Sam was REALLY happy!
After dinner we ate cake.

Sam's Tractor Tipping Cake

With Sam's serious obsession with Cars, we knew we had to make him a Disney Cars themed birthday cake. I looked online for cake ideas and the "Tractor Tipping" cake seemed like the coolest one. I took a stab at it and I think it turned out pretty well especially considering my lack of baking skills. I think Sam will be very excited to see this tomorrow for his birthday.

Fall

This line was sooo slow. It wasn't moving at all. After waiting awhile, I figured the soup was probably cold and I left the line.
"I had a dream that one day"... I would be able to see the new Martin Luther King Memorial.

Sam and cousin Lance fighting.

Although late, Katrina was finally able to pay her federal taxes.
  Car-B-Q
Katrina helped support Sam's Car addiction by giving him Cars bedding.
Note to self: Don't let Sam borrow the car.

Sam a split second before he went all Smashing Pumpkins on the pumpkins.

We asked the pumpkin patch if they'd do an equal trade: 20 lb pumpkin for 20 lb boy. After a few counteroffers, we decided to just pay for the pumpkin.
